Each year, Chaplains of Tacoma-Pierce
County Chaplaincy, both full-time and
volunteer, respond to more than 1,000
separate crisis incidents of homicide; suicide;
threatened suicide; fatality accidents;
domestic violence; and compassionate, in person
death notifications.
This 24-hour a day, 365 days a year, free
service, in cooperation with emergency
services personnel, provides what no others
in our county provide to anyone who
needs it.
Chaplains assist the victims, giving help
and support for the healing of the mind,
emotions and the spirit, which, when
wounded, often outlast injuries to the
body.
In addition to crisis services for victims,
chaplains provide invaluable support for the
emergency responders and their families
with counseling, debriefings and, most of
all, friendship.
